I’m sorry to see this guy drop out of the race to run for PM; I like him and admire him, and could really picture him being cool in the position. I really liked calling out several headlines about him for 24Hrs downtown during rush hours; I know that a lot people really dug hearing, “Astronaut Running For Prime Minister”, too. It just sounds cool.

(Besides M. Garneau’s top-notch resumé, I also think there’s something about the perspective that must come from seeing our world from space that would enormously benefit everyone in a national executive leader (and by “everyone”, I mean EVERYone; the whole world could gain from (even a small country like Canada being led by) a leader with that kind of global perspective).)

Honestly, I have too many problems with “political parties” to join one; so, some could say I lacked conviction in rooting for MG. I don’t think I would have made any real difference though, in the end, and I’d have probably voted for him in an election, too. I’d love to see more accomplished non-politician citizens getting involved in leadership and Marc Garneau’s prospects excited me.
