For Sale By Superhero

Amazon Studios just posted a “test movie” of FOR SALE BY SUPERHERO, written by Jamie Nash and Mistah Pete Barnstrom.

I started watching and soon wondered if it wasn’t over-focusing on the Opening and set up, until I got curious and checked the scroll bar. Sure enough, the test movie is actually comprised of the whole, entire, start-to-finish script(!). I expected a trailer, this must have been a lot of work.

I’m not sure it really accurately pitches a movie; they later ask if you see Paul Rudd or Will Ferrell or Steve Carell in the lead role. Do you accurately get that sense of personality from this animation? I don’t even see real people, I see ‘cartoons’. I really like this idea though, of stepping through a mockup of a movie… I wonder if it could be better for an audience if it were in a simpler, sketchier, yet more realistic look like an animated storyboard with voices.

It must be pretty cool for Pete & Jamie to sit in front of their computers and watch this through! It’s more or less like their script was more or less produced by an animation house.
