Alison Redford, or, Me No Understand A Politics

I remember how cool it was when a majority of Canada was suddenly run by women Premiers; now one is running on nationalist (no surprise there, granted), anti-Muslim and anti-Jew rhetoric, one is failing on transit planning & preparation, and then another quits on a spending-and-entitlement scandal – proving that while we gotta have more women running things with their hands right on the till, the world won’t get any better for the fairer representation.

What’s the big deal with Alison Redford?  Why is everyone so upset?  Less than $17K for an executive round trip to two major cities on the other side of the continent?  What am I missing here…?  I fail to see or register the problem.  I’m as cantankerous and crabby as anyone else and yes, it’s fun to critique our ruling master classes.  $16.5K doesn’t seem a big deal to send a Premier to the continent’s fourth and fifth largest metropolises.

I do see that $45,000 is a lot for a trip to a funeral, altho I’m pretty sure that media paid 100X that simply advertising the death of Nelson Mandela.  Overspending on a funereal trip to pay homage doesn’t seem like quittable, resignation-time material.

I have a life, so, I may not read all the papers that political nerdvaarks get into.  Still, from whatt I ever saw, Alison Redford was a cool, intelligent cat, and I have to say, I’m sorry to see her departure.

It was fun having a female-heavy federation, tho; let us do it again, real soon!
