World AIDS Day 2012

I read this morning on my telephone than HIV infections in India have dropped by 57%, an amazing public health achievement.

However, I read now that Aboriginal HIV infections in Canada are “a growing problem”; though the article doesn’t say the infection rate is actually climbing, it states that the rate is 3.6X higher compared to other Canadians (and that infections from sharing drug paraphernalia/needles is up by 50%).

HIV frightens and alarms me; I wish we could eradicate it completely.
